Would Women Have Made a Difference?
Posted by sherrysaunders on January 7, 2009

As I have been watching the economy crash and burn, I have noticed how there are no women — no pictures of women hat in hand before Congress, no women among the names of corporate executives who have driven their companies into the ground, no women running Ponzi schemes and robbing people of their life savings.
Turns out I wasn’t the only to notice this dearth of women. Debora Spar, president of Barnard College and former Harvard professor raised these issues and more in an interesting column in the Washington Post. She also shouted out several women who did not stand quietly by when things were going wrong in their companies.
Remember Sherron Watkins and Enron? BPW/USA honored her at the National Conference in New Orleans in July 2002. Makes you think there are more reasons than diversity and equity for having more women at the top.

I saw that article, too. Could ethics be gendered?
